On: Going Forward...

In case you might have missed it, Egg Assault was updated. Check that out before reading this!

Now with that out of the way, I've been wanting to do this for a while now, but I've honestly felt like it wouldn't be worth going into all of this till I had worthy content to share and upload for others to enjoy first. now that I have though, it's about time I poke on in, and update everyone on the current situation.

So, as my last real status gave way towards, our landlord at the time gave us something of a shock, and before we knew it, was forcing us to move if we liked it or not. This in and of itself has been quite the stress filled ordeals as it's not simply 'finding a new place' after all, and we had to find a place that meet these points:
- Accepting and would take Section 8/Housing subsidized rent.
- Was under $1200 rent ( as set by Section 8 )
- Was a 2 Bedroom at least ( with me and my bro sharing a room )
- Was within the city for transportation reasons ( as we lack a car )
- Was in a safe enough location to come and go without worry
- Wasn't asking for us to be making over $2000 a month in earnings
- Wasn't asking us to have a 400+ credit score
...Perhaps in the end, we were asking for too much? Within our 90 day allowance, we checked out at least 20 or so different places, and in turn ended up roadblocked at each and every one following suit. It wasn't till where we were almost out of time when we at last secured our new place.
- 3 Bedroom, 1 bath ( so after 26 years, I can have my own room... )
- Pretty much on the south shore lake ( a rather 'safe' location on the south side. )
- Only $1100 rent
- Buses are only a block or two away
- Didn't ask for any of that bullshit
Let me tell you how much of a blessing something like that was for us. To add onto that, for once, I didn't need to publicly beg for funding to support our move ether. We were able to gather the money, and support both the down payment, and covering cost for us moving our stuff over by our own means ( with friends helping with moving stuff at that ). It was a very high moment for me to go "Yeah, for once, we didn't need to beg to cover something like this..." and it was something of a confident booster in turn. Admittedly, this is because most of what we have wasn't honestly from our own pockets, and was ether hand-me-down's, or gifted by others in turn wishing to support us. It's led me towards having a rather...harsh, outlook on us and money at times, and it was glad to have something more positive for once.

Though, money issues would quickly become a thing for us in short order. While AT&T gave us WONDERFUL high speed internet ( around 50 mbps ) for only $60, AT&T for this location however...
FASTSpeed3.png
Really...
GoogleSpeed.png
...Does not...
ATTSpeed.png
...Do so hot at all... They dropped us from $60, to $40, but for this speed it was ending up a total rip off for sure, and time and time again did they assure us this was the 'Fastest' internet they could provide towards this location. Then the REAL fun happened this week, where even as I'm trying to post this ( and dear lord, I am TRYING ), the net went down...
FASTSpeed.png
...to what is fucking worse then dial up of all fucking things. This isn't funny, by the slightest, and AT&T seems unable to do better in turn, so, like it or not, we're forced to swap towards the only other provider in this location, Comcast. They are going to be charging us ~$300 for the first month ( set up and all that jazz ) with ~$100 every month following that for 25mbps. This is already going to hurt our budget by a fair amount, but we really don't have another option.

Next up, some good news from mo2, who's been hard at work as always between his newest game ( that all I can say is "he's working on a new game" ) and working on Project: -QB-, he's been working on updating the walking sprites in turn to be larger, more detailed, and allow him more freedom for a lot more 'sexy' ordeals on the map!

Lastly, and honestly there's a bit part of me regretting having to do this in any way:
I've started up my own 'Tipjar' Patreon.
To put it bluntly, I wouldn't expect anything extra or spiffy from this directly ( at best, I will share uncompressed versions of the same files I upload publicly there so people with VX Ace can peek into all of the stuff I set up and see how it works ), but by using this, and depending on how much funding does come in, I'll be able to stimulate artist to work more directly on projects outside of a "When it gets done" mentality like we have currently, more less I'll be setting up votes to make sure people feel like content updates and the like are "Worthy" of being supported. If not, then no charge will be made, and I'm hoping people can chime in with the type of content they would like to see and have added towards these games as a result. There's more information on how I plan to break down funding, and the voting system on the page, so if you would like to support these projects in some fashion, do give it a look see!

Otherwise, that's about the full 'catch up' thus far. Moving forward, I can only hope me and my team of artist can start bringing out content at a faster rate, and perhaps, at last, stabilize my own life where I can just focus on this stuff, and not having to stress so much on "We don't have money for this, we're in the red with that..."

It's great to hear from you! Your long absence had me worried that something really bad had happened, so it's fantastic to hear that things worked out for you!

Glad to see your back. I was worried that your IRL predicament made you give up on making games.

Yeah, the man is back! I knew you would find a way. Glad to see you back on your feet and thanks for the amazing update.

Re: No title

@File-Not-Found
With the situation being what it was, the last thing I needed to do was sharing every little road bump, issue, and my endlessly growing stress over the matters towards everyone. It's all just really negative stuff, and it's not really things people could have done much for beyond tossing money at said problems and hope that'd be enough, and the last thing I wanted to be doing is begging for cash I wasn't worth at the time. I'd rather be getting funding and support because I'm doing stuff that everyone gets to benefit from, and not just ensuring my life is just 'easier' for another month. Going forward, I'm really hoping I can be that kind of person, and because of how I'm running that patreon, it's going to ensure I can't sugar coat or try to 'jip' my way onto a 'free ride' like 'other' game dev's have done in the ( rather recent ) past...

@Anon
Naa, my entire life has been hardship after fucking hardship. If anything else all this stuff only spurred me harder INTO making sure this stuff 'gets done' and gets out towards the public's enjoyment. The worse fate for any project I think is being shelved and never seeing the light of day after the fact. Some projects might get stuck spinning their wheels for a while due towards different reasons out of others controls, but with me, as long as I'm still alive, expect me always chipping away and trying to get things into a releasable format. It might be slow, and sometimes I might need to redo my work as I'm not a 'master' scripter who can figure out the best way to do this stuff the first, or even second and third times around, but I am one who doesn't quit till the jobs done.

@MrNobody
Never a problem and glad I could please! It's been a long road coming, but I'm glad the effort at the end was worth it! No plans for stopping any time soon ether, so stick with me for a bit longer~! =D

I check this almost everyday to see if an update for anything comes out. I'd probably be better off doing so every month instead. ;_;

Re: No title

@Anon:
I'd hate to be the one to agree with you here, but honestly that wouldn't be the worse idea ether. Sadly a lot of my lack of updating comes from how ordeals like this have been taken in the past, where people hype up stuff, that turns out to be pretty much 'nothing' to speak of ( Breeding Session is a good example ), or I announce content that then doesn't become playable till many months after the fact ( I've already done this a few times, and Project X chances are gets the most flack out of anything for this ).

Add onto this that in my attempts to make things work better, a lot of the time I break stuff, resulting in a lot of time having to go back and fix what I broke, and in the case of Project QB, I'm almost redoing the entire thing from scratch! ( I'll explain this detail better once the updates live ). If I was a lot better at this stuff, I wouldn't have such a shitty work ethic and history, but it's still very much showing to be a learning experience, with a system others have been showing it can do a hell of a lot more then I'd take pride in it currently doing (MatM), and me attempting to keep my stuff 'up to par' with theirs has been an ever losing battle at that. Maybe that's the wrong approach though, including that I just don't have the staff nor the work speed to really make doing that valid to keep in pace...

I like your stuff a lot, and I'm not tryin to get you down, but you're excuses are pretty crap. The last update to QBee was how long ago? Like 2 years now? Unless I'm missing something, the last actual game update you've done outside Egg Assault was in September 2014

You're writing's great, your ideas are great, but it's not "lack of staff" keeping you down, I've seen longer RPGMaker games made for those game jams in less than a week. If you really can't use that system, why don't you do manips, or a twine game, or ANYTHING else?

Staff as in programmers to make up say my own lack of skill. I've had support in the past, but given it pretty much still came down towards me finding the flaw in CP's scripting to at last fix it from it's crashing issue, and people interested in fronting all of the 'grunt work' I'd like to call all those common event chains galore I've got floating about, I'm honestly empty handed there. Artist, writers along with myself, and as of recently people willing to toss in funds I've got. But programmers is still really hard to come by.

As for using other systems? I'll be blunt. I've been using RPG Maker and it's toolset since...2004? Maybe 2003 in earnest. Still, From the old 2000/2003, towards XP onwards, I've used it...and used it...and used it...and the best I can show for it is a dev cycle that still takes years to get stuff done. I am anything but a 'fast learner' sadly, and I've taken a stab at 'simpler' stuff like Ren'Py and the like, and honestly never even gotten off the ground as just getting it to display images and trying to make icons appear was a bit and beyond my skill level. no hope for even getting a basic combat system in place, more less status effects and the like in turn.

It's why in a lot of ways, in my older post, I kinda admitted that I don't feel like I'm quite the 'right guy for the job, just the only guy making an attempt'. I'm still planning to get this stuff out here, but damn if I don't even look at myself and go "Dude, you suck, by a lot. You've had how long, been at this for how many years, and this is still the best you can show?" I can tell you it eats at me and kinda ensures I've got zero self-pride as a result. One of the reasons why I've got the entire voting system for the updates now.

...I kinda wish I took these things as pep talks, making me go "Yeah, I can do better!" like I'm sure you've hope it would end up as...Honestly it kinda just re-cements my own self loathing fears of "I'm really not good enough for this stuff". I'll keep at it though. At least the patrion's not going to be zapping people unfairly till I can put something up to show.

hey lipucid errr m not the best at pep talks but here goes anyway
do you think anyone starts out great at this kinda stuff recently ive been fooling with rpgmaker vx myself and its difficult and i know youve been at this for a while now and i got to say the games look nice they do and with as much desastair youve bounced back from i say its nothing short of a miricale you stayed motivated after so meny setbacks honstly youve survived some project killers i bet most would give up too and now your wore down its understandable youve been through a lot and chances are you will be through a lot more but i know you will bust the roadblocks apart and use them for paperweights when your done with them also you get a lot of help with your projects (i think?) which i think is wonderful so dont get discouraged just yet just take a brake and come back later once your morale improves and if the project still has bugs maybe a diffrent angle is merited idk what version your using but i found a page of scripts (they credit the authors) maybe one of these can help you work around the problem hxxp://rmvxace.wikia.com/wiki/RPG_Maker_VX_Ace_Master_Script_List i could have sworn i seen kahs turn one of his partymembers into a slime with a status ailment but maybe thats the caffine and enrgy drinks messing with me
